Over the past month I've decided to not do "Raising Kane" as my final animation. As near and dear to me as that project is it's a little too ambitious for one student animator to take on virtually alone.
Instead I'm going to make something that for now I'm calling "The Vamp", an homage to silent film.
So I won't be making fun artwork as frequently as before, but without a doubt I probably will post something new once in a while because I need to do recreational projects to keep myself sane.

Senior Thesis Anxiety
I've recently been stressing about what I'm going to make my senior thesis about.
But now I've decided to make a film based on my outlaw ballad "Raising 'Kane'", an epic poem about the Citizen Kane controversy.
Technically half my storyboards are finished because I was originally going to publish it as "a children's book for film buffs", and I completed the illustrations over two years ago. Granted, I'm going to have to re-work them to make them more suitable for a film medium, but I can handle it.
At least I'm not freaking out so much about a story, because that was something that kept eating away at me. All my pet-projects are so ambitious they're more suited for a movie or TV show, not a seven-minute short. I love animated shorts like "Presto" or "Paperman", but I sure-as-hell can't write them, especially not on the spot.
But, yeah. I've got a basic narrative figured out, and the basic visual idea and half the staging done already.
Another cartoon about film history, the historical figures portrayed by anthropomorphic cartoon animals.

As of a few weeks ago I have been enjoying my time off from school. I've been doing a lot of fun drawing, in addition to video games and crocheting.
(And no longer living on a dry campus, it's great to be able to enjoy a glass of wine every now and then.)
At UArts I had the pleasure of attending "An Evening with Neil Gaiman", and I have to say he's a wonderful man and I have even more respect for him than I did before. And as a souvenir I got a signed copy of "Make Good Art".
Tomorrow I plan on seeing the Ballets Russes exhibit at the National Gallery.
